Recruitment Procedures for Teachers
WIS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Thorough checks on your ability to work with children will be adhered to.
WIS is aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection. In accordance with KCSiE 2023 and Safer Recruitment in Education legislation, appointed candidates from the United Kingdom are required to provide and before travel arrangements are confirmed, the following documents: A signed criminal record, self-declaration form, original birth certificate, an International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC) or Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced check.
In accordance to the KSCiE updates to 2023 and as part of our due diligence checks, shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online search.
We employ teachers who hold teaching qualifications recognized in the UK and have experience of teaching in the UK or in accredited British Schools overseas. All teachers must have a minimum of four years post-qualification teaching experience in order to be licensed with Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) with: Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK)
In addition to the above, we also have the following requirements:
- Teachers of KG 1 must hold a degree in Early Childhood Studies.
- Teachers of KG 2 must hold an undergraduate degree (Bachelors) in education or an undergraduate degree (Bachelors) in English, Maths or Science and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (awarding Qualified Teacher Status).
- Teachers of Primary must hold either an undergraduate degree (Bachelors) in education or an undergraduate degree (Bachelors) in English, Maths or Science and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (awarding Qualified Teacher Status).
- Teachers of Secondary must hold an undergraduate degree (Bachelors) relevant to their teaching subject area and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (awarding Qualified Teacher Status).
